Week 16 - Post 3

One other concept that I think is important is in chapter 7, Group Communication. Group communication is such an important thing to learn about because there will always be certain people that you do not get along with. More likely than not, everyone will deal with group communication throughout the rest of there lives. Weather it’s between family, friends, or coworkers, the communication between a specific group of people is a difficult task. One important thing to do in teams is to delegate certain tasks for each person so that no one is confused about what they need to get done. The most important thing to remember in group communication is the steps in the standard agenda. These steps show us how to go about solving a problem in general. Since there will usually be one team member that doesn’t get along with another, everyone needs to know how to work together to solve issues and get through projects.

  1. Hello Kylie,
I could not agree with you more on your opinion regarding the importance of group communication. It becomes more and more apparent how vital group communication is as I get older. I have been working at my current job for almost a year, and it appears as you get to know people it can be harder to work with them. We see people at our jobs more hours and more days in a year than we see our friends and family. However, we are forced to communicate with people that just so happen to pick the same career and firm as we do. Getting along with these people are critical and an essential part of retaining the job. Without it, we could be the bums on the street corner.

  2. I agree with you that communicating in groups are important. Many people that I know of don’t like to talk in groups because they don’t want to be judged. However, I think expressing your feelings, thoughts, ideas, and opinion during a group discussion is important. Most corporate office want to hire people who are comfortable in speaking up in group settings. Getting along with group mates are important too because we are not always going to be lucky to stumble across a group where we can work together. By contributing in group communication, one can learn how to speak more clearly when they are presenting an idea to someone.

  3. Ah yes group communication. I feel that this concept resonate the most with me this semester. For one particular reason is because currently I am involved in a group project that has proven to be quite difficult which is why I agree with you that group communication is difficult! I have been involved in many group projects before but this one is the most difficult because everyone in my group has different communication styles that don’t quite seem to mesh very well. All in all I firmly agree with you that this concept on communication is very difficult, but can also be very successful if within the right group.

  4. I would absolutely agree with you that group communication is very important. It is definitely something that everyone should have because it will help with many different instances you will come across through out life. I really liked how you used the example of working in groups for class projects and how you said that it's really important to delegate which person does what in the group so you can make sure that everything that needs to get done, gets done the right way. I know for me I usually like to be the one to arrange who does what just do I'm completely aware of what is going on around me.
